JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes in Philadelphia
October 25, 2009
by Jordan Oplinger

Today I was on the crew with Dave and Steve to shoot the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes movie. Media Wave Video Productions has produced this movie for the last three years for JDRF.
After last night’s heavy rains, we were lucky and happy the weather held out and gave us a crisp Philadelphia morning. An estimated 10,000 Philly area walkers came out to raise money for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The enthusiasm was palatable as Gabrielle Howarth sang our national anthem and Mayor Nutter delivered an inspiring address to the crowd, encouraging everyone to help solve this growing problem. It was truly a remarkable scene to look out on the thousands of people united by this common interest.

EventDV: Adventures in Fusion
October 17, 2009
I was pleasantly surprised to hear from my Facebook friends that my mug is on the cover of EventDV this month, alongside other wedding and event filmmakers, Bruce Patterson, David Robin, Ron Dawson, Julie Hill, and Joe Simon. My copy arrives tomorrow apparently.
In this article, we all discuss the new cameras that are taking the industry by storm and how we all use them. [Read the full article]

Dallas/Fort Worth Professional Videographers Association

My trip to Dallas last month was so much fun and I want to thank the Dallas Fort Worth PVA and Tiffen for hosting and sponsoring my talk. Here’s a letter Christine from the DFWPVA sent to Tiffen:
Good Morning!
In September, Tiffen sponsored Dave Williams at our local PVA meeting and he did a short yet informative introduction to The Steadicam products. Our local organization consists of approx. 60 members and most of them had never heard of The Steadicam. Thank you for sponsoring Dave. We would love to have the opportunity for him to come again next year.
Thanks you again for having the knowledgeable and kindhearted folks you have and if there is anything more I can to do promote your products, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Christine R. Moore

Social Squawk Goes Live
October 08, 2009
There are important moments in everyone’s life that want to be heard. At SocialSquawk, they focus on what nearly every major metropolitan and local community newspaper used to cover—people news. Birth announcements, engagements, weddings, anniversaries, educational accomplishments, athletic accolades, career moves and achievements, charity benefits, philanthropic gifts, obituaries and tributes. Real people, real lives, real events. It’s what readers are, and always will be, curious about.
SocialSquawk allows contributors to be in control of their content—deciding what to write, what features to include, and when to publish. Their straightforward format supports video, photos, images, audio, web links, guest books, and links so that contributors can share their stories with the community of Squawk readers. Furthermore, these memorable events can be archived and searched anywhere, anytime. You can even print an announcement suitable for framing!
Documenting Life’s Moments
October 07, 2009
I’m not a super-mushy guy (although I have my moments), but this public post on my Facebook wall today reminded me that what we do can have meaning long after the wedding day. Thank you for sharing this, Jackie!
Hi Dave- Today is my 3yr anniversary. I’ve already looked at our 3min re-cap online this morning and look forward to watching our full wedding video tonight (as we do every year). This year is hard for me since my Dad passed away suddenly 5 mon…ths ago. But I am SO grateful that I have our wedding video to watch and remember the many wonderful moments my Dad and I shared that day. Thank you for the amazing job you did in capturing all the special moments that are even more cherished now.

Tammy: (10.07.09-6:35pm) What a sweet comment. I was just thinking about what a beautiful thing videography is. No matter what's going on in our lives, love is what truly matters, and it's so nice sometimes to remind ourselves of our most special memories through video. I was at the gym today, and rather than listening to my music, I decided to watch our love story on my iPod. I was smiling and crying while running on the treadmill. Cool stuff. Keep up the awesomeness.
