Sharon Wilbur Goes to Hollywood on American Idol

January 28, 2009

Last night, my family and I had the pleasure of joining our friend Sharon Wilbur to watch her on American Idol.  Sharon happens to be one of our brides.  We shot Sharon and Joel’s wedding video back on April 29, 2006 and have been dear friends with her family ever since.  Great job Sharon!  We love you!

Top 25 Videographers -  Legitimate or Just a Popularity Contest?

January 27, 2009

Let me just start this post off with the announcement that the Biggest Fan Bride Award goes to Tammy.  She started a blog so family and friends could share her excitement over her wedding and has mentioned us numerous times.  Thank you, Tammy!

Recently she posted that the EventDV Magazine Top 25 contest is on again and professional videographers around the world are asked to vote for their favorite videographers.

Tammy’s blog triggered a discussion with John Zale, the Director of Education of the Wedding and Event Videographers Association International (WEVA).  John explained that the EventDV contest is a subjective online voting contest, even though EventDV has set it up this year so it is overseen by one of the most respected names in the industry, John Goolsby.  He also explained that WEVA has their own contests called the Creative Excellence Awards which are not based on votes of popularity but on the body of the work.

It’s an interesting discussion, but one that’s especially worth mentioning on my blog because we happen to have won both awards multiple times!  But enough about us.

If you are a professional videographer or you know someone who is, please GET OUT THE VOTE and let’s make this year’s EventDV 25 the biggest and best ever!  Only working, professional videographers may vote.

Elizabeth and Judd at St. Augustine’s and The Union League

January 16, 2009

Good morning, Dave.
Thank you for the wonderful wedding video.  Elizabeth and Judd were up from D.C. on Christmas Day and we were all so excited to watch it that we decided to postpone Christmas Dinner until the next day and it was well worth it!  Ward and I as well as Catherine, Edward and Conor laughed, cried, pondered and overall enjoyed seeing this precious keepsake.  Needless to say, Elizabeth and Judd took their copy of the video back to D.C.
Thanks, Dave.

New Year’s Eve Broadcast from Philadelphia to the World

January 01, 2009

Last night we were part of a 10-city broadcast.  Over 2000 guests packed the National Constitution Center as we did a three-camera switch, broadcasting to plasma and projection screens in nine other venues around the country as well as the internet.  My crew performed flawlessly.  Video to follow.
